Autumn Thoughts from Across the Ocean…
Autumn is my favorite season for many reasons: the temperature moderates from the summer, the leaves change into breathtaking colors, baseball has playoffs, and the football season begins. On top of it all, I look forward to the upcoming holidays— Thanksgiving and Christmas (my favorite).
This year autumn is a bit different for me, it’s a countdown; I’m retiring from my current profession and transitioning to, among other things, publishing my novel and focusing on my writing.
I’m writing this blog from the Netherlands where I’m attending work meetings. I’ve done this for years, but this time I’m taking time to appreciate my colleagues and the opportunities I’ve been afforded. I’ll definitely miss my coworkers and expect to stay in touch. Many know about the novel (it was mentioned in a message about my retirement), and many are looking forward to reading it—I don’t mind a little pressure!
So, as we roll into November, the countdown will become “real.” Sixty days to transition my work to a successor and, importantly, appreciate my career and colleagues.
Cheers to you all!
Tom
