Online Discussion for Shadow Over the Heartland

Paul and Cindy Kaske organized the discussion for their book club, with me attending via video. The group was very ready with good, thorough questions. I provided the genesis of the novel, noting that it took place in a place I know well, and I embedded some modest actual happenings in the novel that were personal to me, but likely not to many readers.

There were questions regarding the international activity and I was ask if had I been to those countries in the novel. The answer was yes for my former company. We also briefly discussed the who was the character they liked best. In this case is Joshua Grayson won! I was a bit surprised as other input I’ve received was Uncle Pete and Blaine. Interesting!

I was asked what I enjoy doing in the process. Of course the writing and developing the storyline, but I mentioned doing significant research on topics that are critical to the story. I tend to have piles of paper for references that I weave into the story. We also spoke about the importance of independent Beta readers who critique the novel and provide valuable input toward finishing the book. I expect current sequel should be ready for around March / April for Beta viewing and providing feedback.

I enjoyed the group and thank you for your discussion, input, interest and support. Thank you Paul and Cindy for thinking of me!

Happy Holidays to all,

Tom
